A new way of fetal monitoring is offered through the Avalon CTS - it allows the patient to be monitored without cables. The fetal monitoring system consists of cordless ultrasound, Toco, a receiver base station and ECG transducers. Avalon CTS uses RF technology for wireless transmission (WMTS in the US). It interfaces the full current range of Philips Series 50 fetal monitors, and the very large number of Hewlett Packard/Philips Series 50 fetal monitoring systems installed worldwide. During labor and delivery and in the antepartum period the Avalon CTS is designed for use. The transducers are cordless (no cords attached to the patient), waterproof and lightweight (only 120 grams or 4.23 oz). This means that patients can be continuously monitored while bathing, showering or ambulating giving the mother more choices of birthing positions. Features - Recharged in the receiver station in less than 2.5 hours, the transducers
use built-in lithium ion batteries which give 16 hours of continuous operation. Benefits -With minimum visible technology, Avalon CTS improves the mother's comfort
during fetal surveillance.
